La Luz Talleres, Art and Culture Workshops, Oaxaca, Mexico

About La Luz - Letter from the Director, Marietta Bernstorff

La Luz Talleres: Art and Culture Workshops, is an arts organization in Oaxaca, Mexico that offers visual arts and related workshops for international students. La Luz Talleres brings artists and educators from Mexico, the United States, and all over the world, to teach innovative workshops in an exciting setting. The workshops are led by acclaimed artists working in their area of expertise so that workshop participants may improve their techniques, learn a new medium, or develop a personal project. La Luz Talleres is based out of San Agustin Etla.  A short thirty minute drive from the center of Oaxaca.  San Agustin is a quaint and peaceful little town situated in hills full of beautiful and lush vegetation.  It is the home of a very unique paper factory and an ecological art school.

How to arrive:
To get to San Agustin Etla take a colectivo, a collective taxi. The colectivos depart all throughout the day next to the Mercado de Abastos. If you are walking from the zocalo walk down Trujuno to where it ends at a very large road. Cross the main road and you will see many maroon and white colectivos with the name of their destinations displayed on their windshields. Ask for one leaving for San Agustin. Once it is full, they will leave, that means six people. It normally costs $9.50 during the week and $10 pesos on the weekend.

We hope we can work with you on a regular basis and bring to you as an artist or an instructor a wonderfully unique experience.
